Susan enjoys working outdoors, where nature is the instructor. Choosing to portray how she feels about the landscape, not just recording the scene. She is inspired by the disappearing landscape that is being claimed by urban sprawl. She creates paintings that help to preserve these quiet rural scenes, so that they will survive for hundreds of years. She hopes that her artwork will assist in slowing down the fast pace of our everyday lives.
"When painting “en plein air” or in my studio it is important to work with efficiency. Simplifying what I see is a necessity. My goal is to capture the essence of the light and the magic that drew me to the scene in the first place.”
